About 144 utility workers who had been striking at four Pennsylvania-American Water work sites throughout the Pittsburgh area have ratified a new, four-year labor agreement, the union reported in a news release.
A “strong majority” of members of Utility Workers Union of America System Local 537 voted in favor of ratifying the pact, the union said.
The workers had walked off their Pittsburgh-area jobs June 18 and struck the company, the largest water and wastewater utility in the state. The main issue in the dispute was job security, the union said.
Workers are expected to return to work Monday, according to the union.
