CLASSES

Center — The Penn State Beaver Office of Continuing Education and the Penn State College of Nursing and Outreach will offer a course titled “Legal and Professional Issues in School Nursing” from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through July 18. The course will be taught by Stacy Chiles and shown by video conference from Penn State University Park. Course participants may earn Act 48 credits. For registration and costs: 724-773-3700.

DINING OUT

Green Tree — The Green Tree Garden Club will host its annual picnic at 11 a.m. today at Municipal Center Park. The club will honor Green Tree Public Works employees. No reservations are required, but attendees are asked to bring a covered dish or another type of food item. Chicken and beverages will be provided. The club’s perennial garden will be toured after lunch. In case of rain or high temperatures, the picnic will be moved to the municipal center’s Sycamore/Hemlock room. Information: 724-622-8315.

FOR CHILDREN

Moon — The children’s department of Moon Township Public Library, suite 100, 1700 Beaver Grade Road, will sponsor the following activities. Information: 412-269-0334.

LECTURES/SEMINARS

North Fayette — The Western Allegheny Community Library, 181 Bateman Road, will hold a program on plant-healthy diets at 3 p.m. Saturday. Cost: $10 if paid by today, $12 afterward. Registration: 724-695-8150.

ON STAGE

Carnegie — Stage 62 will present “Side Show,” based on the true story of conjoined twins Violet and Daisy Hilton who became stars during the Depression, at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays from next Thursday to July 26 and 2 p.m. July 20 and 27 at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall, 300 Beechwood Ave. Tickets: $18 for adults; $15 for seniors. RECREATION

Ambridge — The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission will hold “An American Celebration” at 10 a.m. Saturday at Old Economy Village, 270 16th St. Included will be pre-1950 cars, a magic show, storytelling, strolling musicians, musical entertainment in the garden, a spelling bee, food and a performance by Beatlemania Magic from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission: $10; $9 for seniors; $6 for ages 3-11; free for Friends of Old Economy Village members, children age 2 and younger and active military. SEMINARS
