A Hill District man was found guilty by a jury of first-degree murder today in the 2012 shooting death of a man outside a barber shop.

Gregory Smith, 27, was immediately sentenced by Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Anthony M. Mariani to life in prison without parole.

Prosecutors say Smith killed Jaquae Pascal outside the Team Mozzi barber shop near the corner of Kirkpatrick Street and Centre Avenue on July 6, 2012.

Witnesses told police that Smith shot Pascal in the back with a revolver and then ran away.

Smith was tried on the same charges in October, but that case ended in a hung jury.
