The case of a Franklin Park couple accused of abusing their two adopted children has been delayed again.

Douglas and Kristen Barbour were scheduled for court on Jan. 13 on charges of endangering the welfare of children, simple assault and reckless endangerment. Kristen Barbour. 31, also is charged with aggravated assault.

They adopted two Ethiopian children, then aged 18 months and 6 years, in March 2012. Police said the older boy was starved and forced to eat his food in the bathroom because he soiled himself, and that the infant girl was shaken.

The defense requested the delay to get experts on shaken-baby syndrome.

Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey A. Manning rescheduled the case for March 24.
