McArdle Roadway has been closed in both directions while city crews clean up debris that piled up behind a retaining wall after a rock slide this afternoon.

Public Works Director Rob Kaczorowski said the slide occurred sometime around 1:15 this afternoon and felled a tree. He said the event was likely triggered by the wind and rain.

None of the debris breached the seven-foot retaining wall but reached near the top of it. Crews were being dispatched to the scene to remove the debris.

Mr. Kaczorowski said he expected the road to be reopened by sometime this evening.
