Police in Moon are looking for a man they believe robbed a scrap metal yard this morning at gunpoint.

H. Snyder Steel Corp., at 100 Montour Road, reported that a man with a large handgun went into the business shortly after 11:30 a.m., ordered two employees into a back room and stole money and other items, township police Chief Leo A. McCarthy said in a press release.

People on the nearby Montour Trail and employees at the scrap metal yard said a man, whose description matched that of the suspect, had been hanging around before the robbery.

Police believe he may have been watching the business.

The man was wearing gray sweatpants, a black knit mask with two eye holes and a black sweatshirt with the hood up, police said. He is white and "very heavyset," according to the release.

Police asked anyone with information to call them at 412-262-5000.
