Equitable Gas crews have determined that there was not a leak at North Hills High School in Ross and students will return to class as normal tomorrow.

School officials evacuated the building and called Equitable Gas and local officials after someone reported smelling gas near a chemistry lab about noon.

"We have finished our safety checks and our testing of various lines there at the high school and we have found no natural gas-related issue," Equitable Gas spokesman Scott Waitlevertch said this afternoon. "The building has been deemed safe."

It's still unclear what caused the gas odor.

North Hills School District spokeswoman Amanda Hartle said no one was injured or sickened from the smell and students will return to class as normal tomorrow.

They were dismissed early this afternoon and the school district canceled events at the high school tonight.
