Coroner identifies woman killed in Ligonier crash early Sunday

The Westmoreland County coroner’s office today released the name of a 23-year-old woman killed in a vehicle accident in Ligonier early Sunday morning.

Alexandra K. Daugherty, of Ligonier, was driving an SUV on Route 711 around 3 a.m. when, for reasons that aren’t clear, she went off the road and hit a tree, according to a coroner’s office press release.

The SUV caught fire, and Ms. Daugherty died of burns and injuries suffered in the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
