4 with local women with ties to Miss Pennsylvania pageant

Here are four young women with connections to Western Pennsylvania who are among the 24 vying to become Miss Pennsylvania.

The preliminary competition takes place tomorrow and Friday at Nazareth Area High School, Nazareth, Northampton County, with the finals there on Saturday. Tickets for the 8 p.m. events are available at the door an hour before. For more information, see www.misspa.org.

Christina Maria Acosta, 20, of Lewistown, Mifflin County, is a student at Carnegie Mellon University, where she is majoring in creative writing and premed studies.

Victoria Lynn Bechtold, 19, of Johnstown, Cambria County, is studying information technology and prelaw at Duquesne University.

Candace Mari Otto, 23, of Murrysville, Westmoreland County, is a recent graduate of Northwestern University, where she was a theater major. She is also a graduate of Duquesne University's Ezio Pinza Council for American Singers of Opera.

Melissa Suzanne Wills, 23, of Beaver, Beaver County, is a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in human development and family studies and speech communications.
