A Dorm of Her Own
Nickelodeon star Miranda Cosgrove has spared herself the less savory side of college life by making sure no one is hogging the bathroom or clogging the communal kitchen sink drain. The 19-year-old star of the hit show “iCarly” plunked down $2.65 million and bought a house just 20 minutes from the University of Southern California, where she is a freshman.
With 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, the completely renovated house is big enough that maybe the talented Ms. Cosgrove might consider taking applications from other USC students looking for better digs than your usual college dorm room.
Carrie Underwood Sells Idol-ic Home
It was once a big step up when Carrie Underwood bought her first home for $384,000. That was back in 2005, and the country singer was fresh off her “American Idol” win. Now the Grammy Award-winning superstar is light years away from those illustrious beginnings, which helps explain why she recently sold her Franklin, TN starter home for $372,500.
Meanwhile, Underwood — who owns another home in the Brentwood section of Nashville that she bought for $1.35 million in 2007 — and her NHL star husband Mike Fisher are building their dream house nearby in Franklin on 400 acres.
Mary Tyler Moore Made This Place Famous
For anyone of a certain age, a home in Minneapolis forever evokes warm feelings because it housed one of the most endearing stars of the small screen. Now the home called “the most famous bachelorette pad” in America because it was where Mary Tyler Moore lived during her beloved sitcom of the same name is up for sale for $2.895 million.
In the show, Moore’s character, Mary Richards, lived in an upstairs apartment where there was a constant swirl of human and humorous activity. In reality, the house that was shown in the opening sequence of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” is a single-family dandy with 9,500 square feet. But just like the show, the 7-bedroom, 6.5-bath home, which dates back to 1900, is a historic treasure.
