The sixth annual Susan G. Komen “A Celebration of the Promise” drew 130 guests Wednesday night to the LeMont restaurant, where they enjoyed stunning views of the city from Mount Washington while honoring Dr. Sharon Cowden and Janette Poppenberg with the PNC Community Caring Award.
Linda Charapp received the Terri L. Chapman Award for dedication to the cause. Along with individuals, the top fundraisers were recognized as Promise Makers. They were Philip Pelusi, Rivers Casino, Sabika Inc., Pennsylvania State Sportsman Association, Nemacolin Woodlands Ladies Golf League, Jessica Gregory, Carlisle Country Club and Washington PA H.O.G. Chapter #1928.
Guests also enjoyed dinner and a live auction with WTAE-TV’s Michelle Wright and Ashley Dougherty emceeing.
Among those helping to make a difference were Susan G. Komen Pittsburgh president Judy Herstine, CEO Kathy Purcell, Carmelle Nickens, Phyllis Silverman, Ellie Burtner, Toni Lazar, Michael Barfield and Dr. Marguerite Bonaventura.
