What, When, Where: Three Rivers Community Foundation's LGBTQ Endowment Launch on Saturday at The Frick Pittsburgh in Point Breeze, where supporters met up for a cocktail hour and a tour of Clayton before the formal announcement.
The Cause: The foundation launched a fund to ensure financial support for those working toward the goal of social justice and equality for all LGBTQ people throughout southwestern Pennsylvania.
Did You Know: "We are very excited for this endowment because the largest group of applicants we have are a part of the LGBTQ community," said Sydney Olberg, the organization's youth program coordinator.
Some things to think about: "This endowment is particularly timely after the marriage equality ruling here in Pennsylvania. We are hoping to build this fund to $1 million to enable the ability to do more meaningful things," said Nick Palazzetti, executive director. Tiger Weaver, age 15, added, "This is really important because we can learn about the impact that this community has on itself and as a whole through this fund."
