When and Where: Wednesday at Mellon Square Park, Downtown.
All About Community: Looming dark clouds didn't keep roughly 275 park supporters away for the rededication of Mellon Square Park. It was the first modern garden plaza built on the roof of a parking garage in 1955. "The Modernist design -- complete with fountains -- has been restored for a new generation to enjoy," said Scott Roller, senior manager of marketing and communications.
Pittsburgh Renaissance: "Sometimes the best parts of building a new Pittsburgh are the restorations of the past," said Mayor Bill Peduto. "It is so great to see life come back into Richard Mellon's vision of this park. It is full of energy, life and young people again," added Vince Sands, chairman of BNY Mellon, who attended the rededication with wife, Terry.
Fashion in the Park: "I remember modeling here in the park for Carl Herrmann Furs back in 1981. We did another shoot in 2001. It is so amazing to see how they have restored it to its original beauty," said Lisa Freeman, #seen wearing Port 1961 and Chanel accessories. (Check out her latest photo on SEEN online.)
