It was “An Affair to Care” at Family Resources’ new facility Thursday evening. A rainbow of balloons arched over the entrance to 1425 Forbes Ave., Uptown, as guests entered to the sounds of jazz pianist Craig Davis.

Nearly 180 people explored the first, second and fifth floors of the Uptown building while nibbling hors d’oeuvres, socializing and sizing up the silent auction. Event chairs Mimi and Ralph Falbo and board president Victoria Clites helped show off the new digs during the VIP reception while Etta Cox entertained.

No speeches, just a brief video about Family Resources and then it was party on for building owners Susan and Peter Smerd as well as Bill and Gayle Simpson, Helen Sims with Chris Duerr, Suzanne Schollaert, Dave and Dorrit Tuthill, Karen Slevin, Luke Zappa, Anita Waddell and Gordon Fisher.

Along with a regular bar, Moscow Mules were being offered with a commemorative copper cup for $35. All proceeds went to support Family Resources’ mission of preventing and treating child abuse by strengthening families and neighborhoods.
