The invitation featured a vintage illustration that totally set the tone for Apres Ski with the Institute. That would be The Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence at the University of Pittsburgh, and more than 300 members and friends turned out Wednesday in appropriate attire. Alpine garb galore, skis and roaring digital fires, stunning pine wreaths and floral arrangements that looked snow-covered (the work of ever-creative Thommy Conroy) filled J Verno Studios on the South Side with frosty fun. Bella Sera catered the buffet, which included a pasta bar (who can resist homemade macaroni and cheese?), plus short ribs and other winter fare. Peppermint cocktails were the icing on the ice and kept guests toasty as they mingled with Ann Dugan, founder and executive director of the institute. Among the guests were Jack, Abydee, Debbie and Elissa Butler of Butler Gas Products, Karl and Karin Mayr of Sabika, Inc., Carl, Nancy and Tricia Staible of Robinson Fans, and Tom and Terry Hillebrand of Don’s Appliance.
