The 95th Anniversary of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh drew more than 350 guests to the Sen. John Heinz History Center Saturday night. Before chair of the Urban League Annie Hanna Cestra (with Dennis) welcomed everyone, there was a VIP reception on the fifth floor and a first-floor reception with comfort food including macaroni and cheese, cream of mushroom soup, champagne and cake. Perfect for a cold winter evening.

Because of the massive east coast snowstorm, National Urban League CEO Marc Morial could not be there as expected. But Wendell Freeland, a trustee and board member of the National Urban League, was there and reflected on his time with civil rights leader Whitney Young Jr.

A premiere screening of "Whitney Young: Powerbroker" followed remarks by Pittsburgh president Esther Bush and honorary chairs Ron Davenport (with Judy), Leon Haley (with Ann) and Milt Washington. Among those mingling before the movie were Urban League Young Professionals president Marisa Bartley, Steeler Charlie Batch, County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, city Councilman Bill Peduto, Steve and Helen Hanna Casey, Elsie Hillman, Judge Dwayne and Joy Woodruff, Chauncy and Bernice Smith and Robert Hill. The next day the 28th annual Urban League Sunday was held at East Liberty Presbyterian Church.
