Under a clear tent and less than clear skies, guests gathered at the home of Carole Bailey and Andrew Stewart for Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania's annual Spring Gala Saturday night. Formerly the residence of William Thaw and the site of the very first meeting of the Birth Control League of Allegheny County in May 1930 (later to become the PPWP), the North Side house was filled with nearly 200 21st-century supporters. Among them were board chair Harold Smoliar, Elsie and Henry Hillman, Karen Oberg, Bobbie and Keith Smith, Tom and Betsy Teti, Dr. Fred and Katy Sherman and PPWP president Kim Evert.
