The New York import lasted just under a year in Pittsburgh’s North Side.
Vintage Estate -- a big wine and beer store just over the border in Boardman, Ohio -- is holding a “Mead Experience” beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10. It’s one of a series of “Cicerone Sundays” taught by the house’s trained cicerone, James Sforza, who will discuss the history and production process of mead. Attendees will taste six different meads and braggots, which are meads made with malted grain. They’ll also learn how to make their own braggot. Cost is $15 and includes light appetizers.
