Both sessions of the Sept. 7 Steel City Big Pour quickly sold out, as usual, but even if you didn't score a ticket, you might get to try the Big Pour beer.

As per tradition, East End Brewing Co. has brewed a beer especially for the beer, food and art fest to benefit Construction Junction. Also per tradition, East End will make some of the brew available to the public afterwards.

East End's Scott Smith describes this year's brew -- yet unnamed --as "a hoppy, all-organic Belgian farmhouse pale brew." He brewed it last Thursday, Aug. 22, using crisp organic malt, Bravo hops, and the same farmhouse yeast as the Illustration Ale he's rebrewing this week.

After the Pour, the beer will be for sale at the Larimer brewery and its outlet at the Pittsburgh Public Market in the Strip District "and some select tap spots around town."

Another way to get tastes of the Big Pour outside the actual fest (of which the Post-Gazette is media sponsor) is to attend events other venues are holding during the week leading up to it, dubbed Big Pour Week.
