Inside out: Cecil Township was established in 1781 and has a population of 11,271 people living within its 26.4 square miles. Its huge Southpointe development includes offices for Consol Energy, Millcraft Industries and Ansys.
The township is also the home of the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, which is open daily from sunrise to sunset. Military burials are held there daily and are available to all members of the armed forces who have met a minimum active duty requirement and were not discharged dishonorably.
The Stephenson-Campbell property is on the U.S. Register of Historic places and features four buildings including a 1778 log house and a 1929 Sears & Roebuck mail-order house. The log house is one of the few that predate 1780 still standing in Western Pennsylvania.
