The Observatory Hill House tour will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. June 1 The self-guided tour features 10 houses, two churches and Perry Traditional Academy, a public high school. The churches on the tour are Riverview United Presbyterian Church and the chapel at St. Cyril & Methodius Byzantine Catholic Seminary.
Molly’s Trolleys will give visitors a lift to key intersections throughout the neighborhood, which is 1.2 square miles.Observatory Hill takes its name from Allegheny Observatory, which was built in 1912 and is operated by the University of Pittsburgh. The neighborhood is on the eastern rim of Riverview Park.
The tour begins at Riverview United Presbyterian Church, 3505 Perrysville Ave. Tickets can be purchased there on the day of the tour starting at 12:45 p.m. Advance tickets are $12 and can be ordered by calling Observatory Hill Inc. at 412-736-2489, visiting the website www.observatoryhill.net or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
The deadline to order individual tickets at $12 is Tuesday. Starting Wednesday, and through the tour day, individual tickets are $15. Proceeds benefit projects to improve the neighborhood.
