Dahlia root and plant sale

The Greater Pittsburgh Dahlia Society will host a root (tuber) and plant sale Sunday at the Munhall Borough Building, second floor. Roots will be sold from 1 to 2 p.m. and the auction begins at 2 p.m. Bring a container or box. Plants must be paid for by cash or check only. No plants will be sold before 1 p.m.

Backyard composting workshop

A Pennsylvania Resources Council Backyard Composting Workshop will be held at the Castle Shannon Library from 6:30 to 8 p.m Wednesday. Bonsai Show

The Pittsburgh Bonsai Society will be hold its spring show at the Phipps Garden Center in Shadyside on June 1 and 2. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday and the event is free. Vendors will be on hand selling materials, tools and supplies. Members will also be selling trees and young bonsai material. Visitors can watch styling demonstrations on trees both days at 11 a.m. or for a small fee can join a workshop to style their own bonsai at 1 p.m.

Greensburg Garden Tour

The Greensburg Garden Center's 2013 Garden Tour "The Joy of Gardening" will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 29. There will be seven gardens on the tour. Tickets are being sold in advance for $12 at the Greensburg Garden Center, which is open Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the GGC office the day of the tour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $15.
