Closings, bus detours in store for Thanksgiving

Government offices -- including Pittsburgh and other municipal offices, county offices throughout the region, and state and federal offices and courts -- are closed today for the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

Post offices are closed, with no pick up or delivery of regular mail.

State liquor stores and banks also are closed.

State offices and courts will also be closed on Friday for the holiday.

The Port Authority of Allegheny County is operating bus, light-rail and incline service on their respective holiday schedules on Thanksgiving Day.

About 30 bus routes are being detoured in Downtown and on the North Shore from about 7 to 11 a.m. today due to the annual Turkey Trot race.

The customer service line, 412-442-2000, is operating from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Downtown Service Center is closed.

Buses also will be detoured Downtown on Saturday for the My Macy's Holiday Parade.
