Spring Preview Party
Michael Bros. Nursery in West Deer is hosting a free Spring Preview Party from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Classes include a tree pruning demonstration by certified master arborist Steve Miller of Bartlett Tree Services, and a lecture, "The Art of Growing Peppers," by Alan Michael, former multi-county extension agent for Penn State. Daffodil & Hosta Society Meeting
Mike and Kathy Shadrack, authors of 'The Book of Little Hostas: 200 Small, Very Small, and Mini Varieties" and "The New Encyclopedia of Hostas" with Diana Grenfell, will speak at the Daffodil & Hosta Society of Western Pennsylvania meeting at 1 p.m. next Saturday in Northland Public Library, 300 Cumberland Road, McCandless. Spring Garden Workshop
The Old Economy Village Spring Garden Workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 27 at Old Economy Village, 270 16th St., Ambridge. This year, presenters include Thom Marti, farming mentor for local colleges, churches and intentional living communities in the Gettysburg area; Martha Murdock, Penn State master gardener; Pat Liephart, coordinator for the Medicinal and Dye Garden at Old Economy; Dean Sylvester, Historic Horticulturist at Old Economy Village, and Post-Gazette columnist Doug Oster. Heirloom Planting Lecture
