Plus, a chocolate pop-up, a Lawrenceville bar opening and a new Dormont coffee shop
This week, we have exciting flavor combinations and elegant sweet treats. Here’s what’s dishing on the blogs we follow:
At Simply Romanesco, I published some of my favorite recipes for the holiday season including this classy Herb-Roasted Pork Loin. How Sweet It Is dove into a yummy bowl of Spicy Pulled Pork Ramen. The Hungry Hounds put the Thanksgiving leftovers to good use in this spunky Curried Turkey Salad. Three Dogs BBQ whipped up a delectable Cioppino. Yum Yum recapped her Thanksgiving adventures, while Sugar Pixie learned how to make scrumptious Cucumber Sandwiches.
The dessert menu is mighty impressive this week. Quelcy Kogel baked a sophisticated Sweet Potato Layer Cake with Sweet Potato Ricotta Frosting at With the Grains. The Chocolate Pistachio Cherry Pie from Parmesan Princess is an absolute showstopper, whereas Brown Eyed Baker’s Seven Layer Bars are downright decadent. And let’s not forget the myriad cookie recipes from How Sweet It Is.
Locally, the girls from eatPGH ventured out to Apis Mead & Winery for sweet, fruity wines; Chef Chuck from Cooks and Eats dished about City Cafe; and Yum Yum dined at Meat & Potatoes where she indulged in the tasty 3 Little Pigs Sandwich, Pot Roast and White Chocolate Panna Cotta for dessert. According to Good Food Pittsburgh, Spoonwood Brewing Company is hosting brunch and yoga at 8:30 a.m. Sunday; and don’t forget to check out Friendly Fitness Foodie’s giveaway.
See you here next week!
