Dutch oven cooking tips

I received two great tips from International Dutch Oven Society secretary and seasoned cook Colleen Sloan.

One was affirmation that it's OK to actually use soap when you wash cast-iron cookware, as long as it's well seasoned. She agreed with me that a little soap won't hurt or make everything you cook after washing taste like soap. (I do it all the time with my single favorite pan, an ancient cast-iron skillet.)

The second tip was even better. It's something that her grandmother used to tell her and her sisters when she called them in to teach them to cook:

"Kissin' wears out, but cookin' don't."
