Pittsburgh-based designer James Houk will bring a bit of the Steel City to the City of Angels when he shows his new collection Tuesday at L.A. Fashion Week.

Mr. Houk, 50, of Brookline has been tapped to be one of the featured designers in the "All Aboard ... L.A.'s Fashion Platform" runway show at the historic Union Station. Other designers and brands to be spotlighted include Johnny Was, Liberty Sage, Maison Castel and Rosario. Renee Bargh, a co-host and correspondent for entertainment news program "EXTRA," and comedian Brett Walkow will lead the event.

The show will mark the debut of Mr. Houk's Jet Age line, a retro-flavored collection of selvedge denim, knits, tees, pants and leather jackets for men and women. Soon it will be available online and at California-based retailer Fred Segal.

Mr. Houk is a former professional fighter, a practice catcher and conditioning coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates and a member of the U.S. Army hostage rescue team in the late 1980s. Some of his other collections have caught the attention of American Eagle, Barney's NY and Saks Fifth Avenue.
