Fukuda serves lunch
Fukuda in Bloomfield now serves lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. The menu includes teriyaki bento boxes ($8.50), shio ramen ($8), soba ($8), udon ($8), a Japanese curry called kare raisu ($8) and an Indian vegetarian curry ($8). The last is a specialty of the new sous chef, Micah Maughan, formerly at Root 174, with experience working under the staff at New York restaurants from Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Gordon Ramsey. Through Friday afternoon, lunch is pay-what-you-wish.
NOLA chef cooking
Though NOLA on the Square is still recovering from a fire, chef Len Pisano is out and about cooking.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Friday this month, find him making beignets that he'll be giving away. He also will be cooking at the Spring Night Market, Downtown, from 6 to 10 p.m. April 25. And on April 28, diners can visit No Menu Monday at Bar Marco in the Strip District, where he'll cook a New Orleans-inspired meal.
