Regarding the Sept. 22 article "Parking Authority Snaps 200K Motorists a Month":
Outrageous! The Pittsburgh Parking Authority collecting and keeping data on ordinary citizens! That's an abuse of our rights as citizens and a serious misuse of technology developed to track parking violations. Not only that, but the parking authority willingly shares its database.
So, whose movements will be tracked next? Union organizers, people with political opinions not aligned with those in power, people of Arab descent? I understand that this technology makes it easier to deal with parking violations, but it needs to be used responsibly. That means erasing unnecessary data at the end of every shift.
