A while ago South Park residents were asked what improvements they would like to see in Allegheny County's South Park (the bait). Months later County Executive Rich Fitzgerald explained that $3 million may be realized by the county allowing removal of the coal under the South Park Oval, an area with many ballfields and a track. Fifty percent of that money would go toward making South Park improvements (the switch).
Does Mr. Fitzgerald believe that all park resources are just commodities for sale? Parks were entrusted to the county's care, not exploitation.
