Our nation does not seem to have adequate resources for veterans' health care, children's education or even help to fund food pantries but seems able to finance missiles to fire at a nation that hasn't, as yet, attacked the United States.
Our erstwhile allies Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Turkey as well as Great Britain offer no support for the United States to protect Syria, so why should we?
The very least they could do is finance the cost for U.S. intervention. Otherwise allow Syria to solve its own problems.
