A strong leader wouldn't need to attack Syria

Regarding the situation in Syria: Gassing one's own people is of course a heinous act. But for our secretary of state to refer to it as a "moral obscenity" is simple hypocrisy. We killed an estimated 100,000 innocent men, women and children in Iraq for nothing other than ego and oil. Many of us believed that our killing in Iraq was a massive moral obscenity.

Now ego is back. Gassing crossed the red line, which we laid down, and now we must save face and credibility by a show of force. It seems to me to be juvenile and categorically wrongheaded. Sending rockets into an incendiary region, killing innocent civilians and generally inciting more hatred and violence hopefully will be avoided. Truly strong leadership will find other ways to address the problem.
