The Aug. 28 editorial "Stand Down: The United States Has No Place in Syria's Civil War" is spot on. Even if evidence of poison gas is found by U.N. inspectors, we do not know which side was the user. It would not be unimaginable for the suicide-friendly rebel forces to procure some and use it against their own people to curry the sympathy of the international community.
Both belligerents are foes of Israel, so probably Israel wants us to just step aside and let 'em fight each other.
An incumbent president, surrounded as he is by yes-men, must lose the ability to act rationally. He seems to acquire a God-complex and thinks he can act with impunity against the will of the people.
Recent events have turned my vote for President Barack Obama last year into the worst vote of my five-plus decades of voting.
