As executive director of the ToonSeum, Pittsburgh's museum of comic and cartoon art, I would like people to know that VisitPittsburgh has been an invaluable partner in promoting our city. We have seen a noticeable increase in our visitors this summer, especially tourists. This is a direct result of the marketing efforts put forth by VisitPittsburgh.
Guests are seeing Pittsburgh advertised throughout the Tri-State region and beyond and it is paying off every single day in our museums, restaurants, hotels and gift shops. But VisitPittsburgh's hard work goes far beyond bringing in the day-to-day visitor. I can speak firsthand to its hard work bringing in national conventions.
Conventions such as the National Cartoonists Society, Anthrocon, Tekkoshocon and more show a forward-thinking organization that strives to bring in conventions that both think outside the box and have a direct impact on the community. Its help in bringing the National Cartoonists Society convention also allowed the community to have a hands-on festival where they met legendary comic and cartoon artists. That kind of direct community involvement in helping take conventions into our neighborhoods results in not only a direct economic benefit to area businesses but also a positive experience for families in our region.
VisitPittsburgh presents a great return on investment because VisitPittsburgh is a direct investment in our future as a city!
The services provided by VisitPittsburgh are not always visible to those on the outside. But like any good marketing organization, that is how it should be. Seamless, invisible, not marketing itself or tooting its own horn, but promoting the city we are so proud of. The work it does not only promotes what a great city Pittsburgh is; VisitPittsburgh is a part of what makes this city great.
