This is my response to the Department of Justice lawsuit filed against the US Airways and American Airlines merger. I think the editorial board at the Post-Gazette needs to hear another side of the argument ("A Merger Too Far: Justice Is Right to Block US Airways-American," Aug. 16).
About your comments on the airport being built in 1992 to US Airways' specifications, I guess nothing in business can change over the course of 20 years? Well, just look at newspaper circulation versus online media in the last 10 years.
If you think the county got stuck with an albatross airport, try flying out some morning at 7 a.m. or going on a vacation trip some Saturday morning.
As for the operations control center that the county contributed $3.75 million to, what do you think will happen to the $29.25 million that US Airways paid toward it if it leaves for Dallas? Hmmm, the county might be in for a windfall building acquisition!
