I was not happy reading " 'Boobies' Bracelet Ban Struck Down" (Aug. 6). Two Easton Area middle school students were suspended for wearing these bracelets, which promote breast cancer awareness. How was this allowed to happen? How something like a bracelet that supports a good cause can gain so much controversy in a school is absurd. There are so many other issues to worry about in a school. For example, inappropriate attire that is too revealing of one's body and shirts that have derogatory words are a cause for our concern.
This was a main issue when I was a high school student. But seldom was disciplinary action taken, and making it to court was unheard of. Something that sends a positive message in an unlikely manner is protected by our First Amendment. This clearly goes against our constitutional rights. No matter how we express it, we as Americans have the right of freedom of speech.
