Crosby at the DMV

I'm still scratching my head as to why the Sidney Crosby DMV story made it into the Post-Gazette ("PennDOT Treats Penguin With Kid Gloves," Aug. 10). The PG considers itself "One of America's Great Newspapers." I'm not so sure that title fits the bill after this story. I find it ridiculous that anyone would be upset about this incident.

I never thought in my lifetime that I would ever defend the Department of Motor Vehicles, but in this case it did the correct thing. Allowing Sidney Crosby to go to the front of the line to renew his driver's license actually made it a better experience for everyone who was there that day. Rather than allowing a mob scene to ensue the DMV took swift and immediate action to prevent such a scene.

Unfortunately, in today's day and age people just can't leave these high-profile residents alone. Kudos to the DMV for having such a customer-friendly policy in place.
