Jon Schmitz's Aug. 1 article "Stanwix Versus Stanwyck" about the audible signal mispronunciation reminded me of another verbal gaffe. It provided me with daily amusement for a number of years.
I no longer work Downtown, but when I regularly rode the various 61 buses home at the end of the day through Oakland on Forbes Avenue toward Squirrel Hill, I received a daily chuckle at the announcement of Halket Street. It may have been "fixed" by now. However, it sounded remarkably like the female announcer was heralding the arrival of the bus at "Hell Cat Street." No matter how my work day had gone, that always elicited a smile and I silently thanked the Allegheny County Port Authority for its unintended comedy.
