This letter is in response to the July 10 articles "Pa. Same-Sex Ban Challenged" and "For Plaintiffs, Unmarried Status Hits Home." As former neighbors of Deb and Susan Whitewood, I felt compelled to respond to this couple's public fight in overturning Pennsylvania's current laws concerning marriage.
These former neighbors were extremely kind, polite and respectful, and never once did we encounter a problem between us. However, like them, I choose not to remain silent in regard to their efforts in changing our current definition of marriage. I believe the Bible to be the inerrant word of God (all of it), and it is the standard by which I govern my life and my decisions. One cannot pick and choose what to believe or obey in reference to the contents of God's word, as I believe it's all or nothing.
In the beginning, God created man (singular) and woman (singular), anatomically fit for procreation, pleasure and the preservation of the human race. To all those who desire to change our state and federal laws to what you deem should be the definition of marriage, know that you can never change the inerrant truth of God's unchanging word.
