Regarding the firestorm raging in Congress about the Internal Revenue Service singling out conservative groups for greater scrutiny in applying for tax-exempt status: Why in the world do any of these political groups need it? Whose inane idea was that?
I understand that Rep. Nancy Pelosi is questioning this status. Good luck, Nancy. Don't give up, because there will be those who will try to put roadblocks in front of you.
There is an old adage for the conservatives to remember: "Be careful what you wish for. It may come back to haunt you."
I understand that in order for a group to obtain status it should give to charity and do community service. The only thing these groups have done is pay for ads that spout boring, hateful, smear tactics, which cause most of the populace to want to regurgitate. It's got to stop.
And shame on the Supreme Court, which at one time was mostly a respectable, nonpartisan group that put the country ahead of the party. Today it is an absurd, inept gaggle of justices who vote mostly along party lines even if it's not beneficial to the welfare of the country.
The court has also given the parties the opportunity to benefit from unlimited funds from unnamed donors. It should be stopped. What a travesty of justice. Our country has run amok!
In passing, since the Republican Party, led by ring leader Mitch McConnell, couldn't get the president "out" during the last election, could it be trying to get the Democratic Party "out" in the coming state and local elections by the accusations about Benghazi, the IRS and the AP phone records? Just a thought.
