A look at the candidates in the city mayoral primary election reminds me of the same old city politics with an always intriguing old guard and self-proclaimed new guard; then there is a career public servant.
My vote goes to state Rep. Jake Wheatley because of his service to our country, our state and our community. Mr. Wheatley has advocated for issues such as ending hunger (recently running for the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank in the Pittsburgh half marathon). He has promoted minority-, women- and veteran-owned business legislation and community development initiatives (grocery store and YMCA). The silver lining behind his life's work is a people's message, not a political message. There are sincerity and results from this candidate and a promising, livable future for all Pittsburghers. My vote is for Jake Wheatley.
