Regarding the letter from Joseph Carducci ("Kelly Conundrum," April 14): He questions a column by Jack Kelly about gay marriage. His last paragraph states that people should simply return to the teachings of the Christian church. That's fine as long as your religion doesn't creep into the law. Separation of church and state sound familiar?
Christianity may be the religion of the majority of people, but it's by no means the only one. Might I suggest that people try to live by their own moral code, whether it be inspired by religion, science, atheism or whatever?
A simple respect for others (and that includes their religious beliefs) will go a long way. Please don't try to legislate me into being what you believe is right and good. I consider my faith a very personal matter and would appreciate it if the law felt the same.
