Regarding the April 1 Perspectives piece by U.S. Rep. Keith Rothfus ("Balanced Budget: Responsible House Plan Would Foster Growth"): Let's discuss "Rothfus Hood" -- also known as the Paul Ryan plan or "Ryan Hood." How convenient that Tea Partier Keith Rothfus didn't mention it by name. I guess Mr. Rothfus believes that if he doesn't mention it by name, nobody will know exactly what plan he's supporting. So I'll just call it Rothfus Hood.
Here's how it works: You cut Medicare and Social Security and take those savings and use them to fund a 14.6 percentage point tax cut (39.6 percent down to 25 percent) for millionaires like Keith Rothfus. Now Mr. Rothfus and his other millionaire friends get to take home a cool $146,000 for every million that they make. His billionaire friends get to take home a cool $146 million for every billion. It's reverse Robin Hoodism. Take from the poor and give to the rich. This Tea Party ideology is centuries old.
Ecclesiastes 5:10 in the Bible even refers to it by telling us that "Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income" -- aka Rothfus Hood.
