In response to the article "Single Moms Can Find Little Relief From Chronic Stress" (Feb. 18), I am writing to share information about the nonprofit Angels' Place Inc., where single parents may find hope and encouragement along their journey.
As I was reading the article, I wished that everyone knew about the services we provide at three different Angels' Place centers (Brookline, Swissvale and North Side). Our program is designed to support single parents who are low-income and enrolled in school on a full-time basis by offering a full range of free services, including child care (at no cost to the parent), parenting classes, counseling and help with clothing and other basic needs. This is our 29th school year!
The team at Angels' Place understands that there are unique challenges to being a single parent, and our mission is to surround parents with the support and opportunities they need to complete school, which creates a brighter future for the parent as well as the child.
Parents are encouraged to call us at 412-321-4447 or visit our website at www.angelsplacepgh.org to learn more about how we can help.
We congratulate all single parents for their hard work, and we look forward to being a part of their path.
