During the second presidential debate Gov. Mitt Romney spoke of defunding Planned Parenthood, while President Barack Obama vigorously defended it. He made it almost sound like a branch of government, pointing out the good things that it does. In fact, Planned Parenthood is a highly profitable business (the president conveniently did not state that its business is abortion).
Nor did the president refer to Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood. As was fashionable in the early 20th century, eugenics was her mindset (as it was of the National Socialist German Workers' Party, or for that matter the KKK). She was clearly a bigot, a racist, anti-poor, wanting to rid the country and the world of those she deemed to be "unfit" and belonging to "minority groups." Hence the practice of Planned Parenthood affiliates being located near to high-density, minority, poor neighborhoods.
Her associate in this was Dr. Alan F. Guttmacher, after whom the Guttmacher Institute is named. This program provides information about abortion and other social engineering efforts, giving a pseudo-scientific cast to its pronouncements.
