Mitt Romney delivered an animated performance at the first presidential debate -- probably the same type of performance he gave to companies about to be acquired by Bain Capital just before he cannibalized them and walked away with millions while thousands of workers lost their pensions and health insurance.
We did not need a debate to learn what President Barack Obama would do -- we are living through his accomplishments. Obamacare has closed the prescription doughnut hole for seniors and increased the longevity of Medicare. It provides free lifesaving health screenings and has ensured that children and adults with pre-existing conditions can get affordable insurance with no lifetime limits. The economy is headed in the right direction with more than 5 million private-sector jobs created and a 44-month low in the unemployment rate to 7.8 percent, despite the headwinds of a recession in one of our largest trading partners, Europe, and an obstructionist Republican Congress. Senate Republicans including Pat Toomey recently defeated a jobs bill for veterans!
President Obama is not satisfied with the pace of the economic recovery and is working every day for all Americans. Mr. Romney opposed the Recovery Act, opposed the auto industry rescue and advocated to let the foreclosures continue in the housing market. During a May private fundraiser he expressed contempt for 47 percent of all Americans who do not pay federal income tax. This 47 percent includes active duty combat troops, seniors living on Social Security and hard-working Americans who do not earn enough to pay federal income tax.
Mr. Romney wants us to trust him to provide the details of his elimination of tax deductions and programs until after the election.
Voting for Mitt Romney and Tea Party Senate candidate Tom Smith would be like chickens voting for Colonel Sanders!
