I am very disturbed to learn of John Norbeck's forced resignation as Pennsylvania parks director and the prospect of fracking and other extractive industries on our precious parklands ("State Parks Director Says He Was Forced Out," Oct. 9).
Once drilling starts, there's no going back. The short-term energy gain will be gone and so will the long-term natural health of the land. If we can't at least keep our parks from fracking, what can we keep?
Many people have donated these lands to the public trust with the expectation that they would be preserved for future generations. Mr. Norbeck needs to be reinstated to help protect our parks and be recognized for all the great work he has done. And the Corbett administration needs to be kept in check.
