Pennsylvania has voted for the Democrat in the presidential election in the past five election cycles and likely will follow suit again in November. Only Philadelphia has played a larger role in these results than the Pittsburgh region.
Taking all of this into account, why is it that once again we face another election season in this region with zero liberal and few moderate voices on our local radio airwaves? KDKA radio has long been known in our area as a voice for Republican politics, and this is where I and others must go to hear a shred of reason in regard to our views on the issues.
On the FM dial News Talk 104.7 has hosts more extreme than any Pittsburgh Republicans I am aware of, thankfully. Jim Quinn, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and, until recently, Michael Savage have been a murderer's row of hateful, homophobic, women-bashing chicken hawks who rely on their shock appeal to stay on the air.
It is simply unfathomable for me to believe this region can't do better than the despicable choices we are currently being given on the local radio dial.
