The direction our country takes will be determined by the upcoming presidential election. Americans have a lot of anxiety over the kind of country in which we will live and what we will leave behind for future generations. We must all decide if President Barack Obama's policies toward bigger government can be sustained.
Will Obamacare cost so much that we will borrow more money and print more money causing our dollars to be worth less than the paper on which they are printed? Entitlements have become so overused that the government can no longer even pretend that it is not producing a generation dependent on handouts. Our president has become more of a TV personality than the leader of the country that we all love so much.
I ask all my fellow Americans to remember, "There's no such thing as a free lunch." Someone, always, has to pick up the tab. This someone is you, the taxpayer. All of the promises being made to you will be paid for by you and your family to come. There is no such thing as "government" money. There is no bottomless pit from which to draw. The "rich" do not have enough money to save us, nor should they have to do so.
China will own our children's destiny. Our children will hate us for the legacy that we leave. History will not treat us kindly. We are the generation that could have saved the United States of America.
When we vote on Nov. 6, remember the proverb: "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me."
