Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC said that Ronald W. Schuler, member in charge of its Pittsburgh office, was one of only seven Pittsburgh-based attorneys recognized in the 2013 Chambers USA annual directory of leading law firms and lawyers for corporate law, mergers and acquisitions law, and private equity law. Mr. Schuler's primary areas of practice are corporate law, securities and commercial transactions. He received his law degree from Cornell Law School, and its admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.
Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC said that associates Christopher A. Amar and Renee M. Schwerdt were selected to serve on the junior board for Pressley Ridge, a nonprofit organization that provides multiple services to keep children and families together in order to help youths with challenging behaviors to remain in their homes, schools and communities.
Mr. Amar's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. He has litigated disputes for public and private corporations, energy-related companies, cultural institutions, national banking associations and real estate partnerships. Ms. Schwerdt is an associate in the firm's litigation section, working on banking and financial services matters, as well as energy and transportation industries issues.
Jana Volante, litigator at Fox Rothschild, was appointed to the Grove City College Alumni Council. Ms. Volante represents clients in both commercial litigation and white collar criminal defense and compliance matters. She received her law degree from Harvard Law School.
McGrath Law Group, P.C. announced that the name of the firm has been changed to McGrath McCall, P.C.
McGuireWoods LLP announced that five partners in the firm's Pittsburgh office have been named Pennsylvania "Super Lawyers" for 2013. They are: Ronald W. Crouch, construction litigation; Sally E. Edison, bankruptcy; Mark E. Freedlander, bankruptcy; Leonard J. Marsico, business litigation; and Michael J. Roeschenthaler, bankruptcy.
Burns White said that David B. White, member in the firm's Pittsburgh office, was named to the 2013 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list, while member Travis W. Smith and associate Stephen A. Hall were selected for the Rising Stars list. Mr. White has more than 30 years of legal experience in several industries and areas of litigation including financial services, commercial, products liability, professional malpractice and employment. He earned both B.S. and J.D. degrees from Duquesne University.
Mr. Smith is chair of the medicare compliance group civil litigation and estate planning and administration co-chair. Mr. Hall is a commercial litigator with experience in the financial services sector.
Joseph R. Williams, associate, Pollock Begg Komar Glasser & Vertz LLC, was elected to serve as chair of the Young Lawyers Division of the Allegheny County Bar Association. Mr. Williams will commence his one-year term as chair-elect of the division on July 1. Mr. Williams, a graduate of Duquesne University's School of Law, was named to the 2012 and 2013 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Stars listings.
